STATESBORO, Ga. – Savannah State University softball team (1-36) fell to Georgia Southern University (24-22) 8-1 in game one and 7-0 in game two in the road finale at Eagle Field.
Freshman second baseman
Alysha Bolling and sophomore third baseman
Cortni Jones each batted .400 (2-for-5), while Jones hit a home run and senior right fielder
Alexis Singleton batted .333 (2-for-6) in both games.

Singleton and Jones went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Jones scored the only run and RBI, while senior pitcher
Amanda McDowell (1-17) picked up the loss pitching the first two innings giving up one earned run on four hits.
Georgia Southern left the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning to keep the game scoreless, but was able to get on the board in the second inning with four runs to take a 4-0 lead after an RBI single, two errors to allow two Eagles to score and an Eagle stole home. The Eagles scored a run in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead after a solo home run to right field.
Jones led off the fourth inning with a home run to left center field on a full count to cut the lead to 5-1, but Georgia Southern scored the final three runs after a two-run home run to right center field and an Eagle scored on a wild pitch.
The Eagles were led by Emily Snider going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while I. Davis going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. H. Felt (2-0) picked up the win in relief pitching the final three shutout innings giving up three hits.

Brianna Harris walked, while sophomore
Faith Dickerson (0-15) picked up the loss pitching a complete game giving up five earned runs on seven hits.
Georgia Southern broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the first inning with a run after a solo home run to center field for a 1-0 lead and left the bases loaded with one out and scored two more runs in the third inning after an RBI groundout and a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles scored a run in the fourth inning after an RBI single to take a 4-0 lead and scored the final three runs of the game in the fifth inning after a three-run home run to right center field.
The Eagles were led by Snider going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs, while S. Wilson went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Katherine Camp (8-7) picked up the win throwing a no-hitter giving up a walk in the sixth inning.
The Lady Tigers final series is this weekend against South Carolina State University at Lady Tiger Softball Field. The two schools square off Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon for Senior Day.
