SAVANNAH, Ga. – Senior guard
Kenyata Hendrix recorded her second career double-double with a game-high 19 points and a game-high and a career-high 13 assists, while senior forward tied a career-high with 18 points and added six rebounds as the Savannah State University women's basketball team (10-14) defeated Allen University (11-17) 91-48 Monday night in Tiger Arena to win its fourth game in a row and eight of the last nine games.
Twelve of the thirteen student-athletes scored in the game and recorded at least one rebound. The 91 points scored is a season-high by the Lady Tigers, while the 34 made field goals, the 49.3 (34-for-69) shooting percentage, 26 assists and 19 steals are all season highs.
Hendrix added seven rebounds and four steals while shooting 6-for-13 from the floor, while Edwards shot 8-for-11 and added two steals. Hendrix's 13 assists are the most in the program's history since Ivy Smith recorded 14 assists against Louisiana-Lafayette on Dec. 28, 2007.
Senior center
Tiyonda Davis, who was named the MEAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, added 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and four steals. Davis now has 88 blocks this season and needs four blocks to set the school's single season record in the Division I era. The Athens, Ga., native also went 4-for-5 from the floor, which gives her 368 career made field goals, which moves her into a tie for fourth most in school history and her 10 points gives her 856 career points, which moves her into seventh place in school history.
Graduate student guard Lauren "Gaby" Moss added 10 points and four rebounds, while senior forward
Charmia Graham set a career-high six rebounds and added four points in 11 minutes and sophomore
Jacqueline Anderson set a career-high four rebounds with two points in six minutes. Junior guard

Deyja Brown and senior guard
Rhianna Warren each added six points.
The Lady Tigers never trailed in the game and scored 10 of the first 12 points in the game to take an eight-point lead, 10-2, with 6:40 remaining in the first quarter. Allen scored the next two points to cut the lead to six, 10-4, with 6:29 left, but Savannah State scored 10 of the final 12 points to take a 14-point lead, 20-6, after the first quarter.
A Moss three-pointer gave SSU a 17-point lead, 23-6, with 9:39 remaining in the second quarter, but an Allen layup cut the lead to 15 points, 23-8, with 9:35 left. Savannah State scored 28 of the final 37 points of the second quarter to take a 34-point, 51-17, halftime lead.
Savannah State scored seven of the first nine points of the third quarter to take a 39-point lead, 58-19, with 6:49 remaining in the quarter, but Allen scored 18 of the next 26 points to close the game to 29 points, 66-37, with 1:33 left. Junior center
Reynetta Phillips scored the final three points of the quarter to give the Lady Tigers a 32-point lead, 69-37, after three quarters.
Allen scored seven of the first 13 points of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 31 points, 75-44, with 6:29 remaining, but Savannah State scored the next 11 points to push the lead to 42 points, 86-44, with 4:38 left. Allen scored four of the next five points to cut the lead to 39 points, 87-48, with 1:01 left, but the Lady Tigers scored the final four points to take home the 43 point win.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Dekoya Mack with 16 points, while Kayla Pierce and S'Nitra Mack each added nine points, while Mack added seven rebounds and Pierce added four rebounds and Jamia Gibson added eight points.
The Lady Tigers travel to Baltimore, Md., to face Morgan State University (5-19, 3-8 MEAC) Saturday at 2 p.m. before returning home for Coppin State University (6-18, 6-6 MEAC) Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
