SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's volleyball team (3-23) travels to Statesboro, Ga., for SSU's road finale Monday to face Georgia Southern University (7-19) at 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Tigers are led by freshman outside hitter
Amanda Rullan Vilanova with 1.52 kills per set, senior setter
Alee Quint with 4.21 assists per set and freshman libero
Leiri Melendez with 3.16 digs per set.
Freshman middle blocker
Tyran Chenault leads the team with 0.86 blocks per set and is fourth with 1.36 kills per set, while freshman setter
Salma Gonzalez averages 1.98 digs per set, 3.00 assists per set and 1.24 kills per set.
The two schools meet on the court earlier this season as GS came away with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-13, 15-25, 18-25) win on Oct. 10 in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium. In that match, the Lady Tigers were led by freshman middle blocker
Oneillia Fuller with nine kills, while Quint led the team with 22 assists and Gonzalez led with 11 digs. GS was led by Cathrine Murray with 17 kills, Landon Jones with 34 assists and Joscelin Morrow with 14 digs.
The Eagles have lost the last eight matches and are led by Lauren Reichard with 2.55 kills per set, April Luther with 8.08 assists per set and Morrow with 3.33 digs per set.
The Lady Tigers return home for the season finale Sunday, Nov. 12 with South Carolina State University at 1 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.
