SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's volleyball team (3-24, 1-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) looks for its fourth consecutive win against South Carolina State University (1-25, 0-9 MEAC) when it hosts the Bulldogs for the season finale Sunday in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium for Senior Day.
The Lady Tigers are led by freshman outside hitter Amanda Rullan Vilanova with 1.49 kills per set, senior setter Alee Quint with 4.21 assists per set and freshman libero Leiri Melendez with 3.18 digs per set.
Freshman middle blocker Tyran Chenault leads the team with 0.85 blocks per set and is third with 1.38 kills per set, while freshman setter Salma Gonzalez averages 1.92 digs per set, 3.96 assists per set and 1.24 kills per set and junior outside hitter is second on the team with 1.48 kills per set.
The two schools met earlier this season on the court with the Lady Tigers squeaking out a 3-2 (25-17, 15-25, 21-25, 25-23, 18-16) win in Orangeburg, S.C. on Oct. 13. SSU was led by Rullan Vilanova with a career-high 16 kills, Quint with 25 assists and Melendez with 11 digs, while the Bulldogs were led by Alexus Holt with 27 kills, Janai King with 52 assists and Marcella Chestnut with 18 digs.
The Bulldogs are led by Holt with 3.07 kills per set, King with 7.14 assists per set and Chestnut with 2.64 digs per set.
