Tyran Chenault and
Oneillia Fuller combined for 18 of the 30 kills as Savannah State University women's volleyball team (2-16, 0-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) fell to North Carolina A&T State University (9-10, 2-0 MEAC) 3-0 (22-25, 14-25, 17-25) Friday in Moore Gymnasium.
Chenault recorded nine kills with a .375 hitting percentage and a block, while Fuller recorded nine kills with a .294 hitting percentage. Senior setter

Leiri Melendez led the team with a match-high 12 digs.

Savannah State scored nine of the first 16 points in the first set to take a two-point lead, 9-7, but the Aggies scored the next five points to take a three-point lead, 12-9. The Lady Tigers scored the next two points after back-to-back kills from Rullan Vilanova and Chenault to cut the lead to a point, 12-11. SSU scored nine of the next 17 points to tie the set at 20, but NCAT scored five of the final seven points to win the set and to take a 1-0 match lead.
NCAT scored seven of the first eight points in the second frame to take a 7-1 lead, but the Lady Tigers scored the next three points to cut the lead to three points, 7-4. The Aggies scored eight of the next nine points to increase their lead to 10 points, 15-5, but Savannah State scored six of the next eight points to cut the lead to six points, 17-11. NCAT outscored SSU 8-3 during the rest of the set to win the set and to take a 2-0 match lead.
Savannah State scored the first three points in the final stanza for a 3-0 lead, but the Aggies scored 12 of the next 15 points to take a six-point lead, 12-6. The Lady Tigers scored the next three points to cut the lead to three points, 12-9, but NCAT outscored SSU 13-8 during the rest of the set to win the set and the match.
The Aggies were led by Samara Brown and Edie Brewer with nine kills each, while Brewer led the team with 16 assists and Milanna Morgan led with seven digs.
The Lady Tigers finish the three-match roadstand with North Carolina Central University Sunday at 1 p.m. in Durham, N.C., before returning home for Georgia Southern University Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.
