SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's volleyball team (2-15, 0-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes the three match roadstand in North Carolina this weekend as the Lady Tigers face North Carolina A&T State University (9-9, 1-0 MEAC) Friday at 7 p.m. in Greensboro and North Carolina Central University (0-13, 0-1 MEAC) Sunday at 1 p.m. in Durham.
The Lady Tigers are led by junior outside hitter
Jennifer Rosado with 1.43 kills per set, senior setter
Alee Quint with 3.81 assists per set and freshman libero
Leiri Melendez with 2.94 digs per set.
Freshman middle blocker
Tyran Chenault leads the team with 0.77 blocks per set and is third with 1.30 kills per set, while freshman setter
Salma Gonzalez averages 1.77 digs per set, 2.77 assists per set and 1.05 kills per set.
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to Mercer University 3-0 (18-25, 10-25, 16-25) Wednesday. Gonzalez produced an all-around performance with four kills, seven assists, seven digs and two service aces, while Rosado led the team with five kills, Quint led the team with 12 assists and Melendez led the team with 12 digs.
NCAT has won the last three matches, including a 3-0 sweep against Norfolk State and a 3-2 win at NCCU. The Aggies are led by Alyssa Pitt with 2.12 kills per set, Edie Brewer with 5.95 assists per set and Milanna Morgan with 2.84 digs per set.
NCCU is looking for its first win this weekend and faces South Carolina State University Friday at 6 p.m. before facing SSU. The Eagles are led by Da'Nesha Miller with 1.89 kills per set, Paige Phillips with 7.19 assists per set and Bree Simmons with 3.56 digs per set.
The Lady Tigers return home to host Georgia Southern University Tuesday at 6 p.m. before heading back on the road to face South Carolina State Friday at 7 p.m.
