Dexter McClanahan scored a game-high 21 points while
Troyce Manassa added 20 more as Savannah State beat Florida A&M 93-88, in a game played at Tiger Arena.
The Tigers led by 13 with one minute remaining in the second half before FAMU made a late push with a 15-6 run to get as close as 92-88 with two seconds left.
Savannah State went the final 4:08 without a filed goal.
Joshua Floyd scored 17 points for SSU,
Austin Dasent added 14 while Robert Kelly contributed 13. McClanahan and Kelly hauled down five rebounds apiece while
Zach Sellers had a game-high nine assists and three steals.
The game, that drew 2,350 spectators, featured five ties and 13 lead changes.
Savannah State, who led by as much as eight in the opening period, only led 48-47 at intermission.
The Rattlers trailed 25-17 but used a 14-2 run to take a 31-27 lead with 9:53 left in the period.
SSU rallied to regain the lead, 41-34, but a 9-0 Florida A&M run gave the visitors a 43-41 edge with 2:11 showing.
With the game tied at 45, Desmond Williams hit a jumper for FAMU while McClanahan nailed a 3-pointer for Savannah State to end the first half.
Florida A&M led by one early in the second half but a 14-6 run by SSU gave the Orange & Blue a 66-59 lead with 10:03 remaining.
SSU led by a dozen with just over four minutes remaining and a free throw by Kelly with 1:13 showing on the clock gave the Tigers a 84-71 lead.
Back to back 3-pointers by Marcus Barham and Justin Ravenel cut the Rattlers deficit to six with 21 seconds left. Baskets by Nasir Core and Brendon Myles pulled FAMU within four with two ticks left.
Ravenel, who hit five 3-pointers, led the Rattlers (4-13, 2-2) with 19 points.
FAMU shot 46.2 percent from the field, made 36.1 percent of their 3-point shots and 50 percent of their free throws.
Savannah State (5-12, 2-2) shot 41.3 percent from the field, made 29.2 percent of their 3-pointers and 73.9 percent of their free throws.
SSU won the rebounding battle, 46 to 42.
