SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University (0-11) hosts its second match of the season against Charleston Southern (3-8) Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gym.
These two school met earlier this season in Statesboro, Ga., for the Bash in the 'Boro on Sept. 1. The Buccaneers came away with a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-16, 25-14).
Freshman
Dominique Ingram leads the team with 2.03 kills per set and with 0.71 blocks per set , while senior setter
Caitlynn Masoe is second on the team with 1.86 kills per set and is averaging 2.40 assists per set, 0.49 service ace per set and 1.50 digs per set.
Junior setter
Alee Quint leads the team with 4.66 assists per set, while senior libero
Alexis Washington leads the team with 3.25 digs per set.
The Lady Tigers went 0-3 last weekend at the ISTAP Collegiate Cup Invitational in Montgomery, Ala., last weekend with losses to Chicago State 3-0 (15-25, 22-25, 19-25), host Alabama State 3-0 (24-26, 17-25, 25-27) and to Troy 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 19-25, 23-25).
Charleston Southern went 0-3 at the CofC Classic last weekend with losses to Eastern Michigan (3-1), host College of Charleston (3-1) and VCU (3-0). The Bucs are led by Brooke Monssen with 2.77 kills per set, Rachel Smith with 6.77 assists per set and Madison Martin with 4.40 digs per set.
The Lady Tigers travel to Charleston, S.C., this weekend for the last nonconference tournament of the season for the Bulldog Invitational. SSU starts the tournament with Elon at 11:30 a.m. and Charleston Southern at 4:30 p.m. Friday, followed by host The Citadel at 11:30 a.m. and Austin Peay State at 5 p.m. Saturday.
