SAVANNAH, Ga.- Ryan McCranie's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth lifted Savannah State to a 3-2 non-conference win over visiting LIU-Brooklyn, in a game played at Tiger Field. Somto Egbuna was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jakeel Daniels. After Khalyd struck out, McCranie singled to center field which allowed Egbuna to score the game winning run. The Tigers trailed 1-0 entering the seventh inning.
In the bottom half of the seventh, Daniels hit a RBI single that sent Egbuna across home plate to tie the score.
The Blackbirds (3-6) tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the ninth when Andrew Turner doubled and scored on a single by John Knauth.
Sikes and Bruce both had two hits for Savannah State while Egbuna scored twice.
Chris Hayes pitched the final two-thirds of an inning for SSU to earn the win. Greg Hollman started for the Tigers (4-8) and struck out three batters and gave up one run in seven innings while Brandon Whitmore pitched one and one third of an inning and gave up one hit and one run. Vincent Tranchina took the loss for the visitors, giving up one hit and one run.
William Jackson had two hits in a losing effort.
LIU-Brooklyn left eight men on base while the Tigers, who made three errors, left six men on base.
