Bowling Green Downs SSU

EMERSON, Ga.- The Savannah State baseball team lost their fourth straight after a 10-1 setback from Bowling Green. The game was played at Lake Point Field as part of the Spring Swing at Lake Point Classic.
Savannah State was held scoreless until the top of the eighth when Ryan McCranie led off with a double and scored on a single by Jonathan Moore.
BGU (7-6) scored twice in the first, third and sixth innings for a 6-0 lead.
The Falcons added another run in the bottom of the seventh to stretch their lead to 7-0.
Bowling Green scored three times in the eighth when Kory Brown hit a RBI single and RJ McGuinness hit a two-run double to make the score 10-1.
Moore had two hits and drove in the Tigers only run on the day.
Alex Wright started on the mound for SSU. Wright, who lasted 5.1 innings and gave up 8 hits, 6 runs and 5 walks while striking out three, was the loser.
The Tigers (4-11) made four errors in the game, had five hits and left six men on base.
Bowling Green's offense pounded out 14 hits with Brown getting three.
The Falcons left 14 runners on base and made one error.
Zac Carey was the game winner, striking out six in 7.1 innings.
