SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Troyce Manassa had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Savannah State to a 57-49 win over Morgan State in a game played in Tiger Arena.
The crowd of 2,671 also saw
Lenjo Kilo grab a game-high 12 rebounds for the Tigers.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for SSUÂ (7-13, 4-6 MEAC).
Savannah State led 45-40 with 3:14 remaining but put the game away with a 11-6 spurt to increase their lead to 56-46 with 13 seconds remaining.
With the score tied at intermission, SSU began the second period with a 11-3 run to take a 35-27 lead with 13:24 left.
Morgan State trimmed their deficit to one with a 9-1 run with ten minutes left in the game but SSU answered with a a free throw by Kilo, a layup by
Khalen Pinkett and a 3-pointer by Chris Martin to expand their lead to 43-36 with 8:35 on the clock.
The Bears could only get as close as five points the rest of the way.
Cedric Blossom had 13 points and nine rebounds for MSU (5-16, 3-5 MEAC).
In the first half, Morgan State used a 10-2 run to take a 18-10 advantage with just over eight minutes remaining in the period.
Savannah State rallied with a 12-4 run to tie the game at 22 with 1:23 on the clock.
Both teams went into the half knotted at 24.
SSU shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and 37 percent for the game. The Tigers out-rebounded MSU 39 to 33.
The Bears shot 29.8 percent from the floor and missed all eight of their 3-point attempts.

Javaris Jenkins returned to the rotation after missing the past 11 games...Manassa has scored in double figures the past seven consecutive games...Martin has not scored in double figures the past three games.....SSU assistant coach Pat Hardy and NFL quarterback Cameron Newton were high school teammates at Atlanta's Westlake High School.
Morgan State- The Bears continue to struggle away from home as they fell to 1-12 on the road.....MSU only scored 49 points which is 15 points under their average......The last time MSU won on the road was November 21, 2015.
