CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Savannah State University softball team (4-10) won the final game of the Charleston Southern Tournament with an 8-5 win over host Charleston Southern Sunday at the CSU Softball Field.

Alexis Singleton and freshman third baseman
Cortni Jones each went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Singleton added two runs scored, two RBIs and Jones added three RBIs.
Junior pitcher
Amanda Hallman (3-3) went the distance giving up two earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and went 1-for-3 at the plate with a solo home run.
Savannah State opened the game scoring two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Left fielder
Chasney Jenkins began the game with a walk and after a groundout to move Jenkins to second, Singleton singled home Jenkins and advanced to second on the throw to home and scored on a passed ball.
After a groundout for the second out of the inning, Jones singled through the left side and Hallman's walk put runners on first and second with two outs. The third groundout of the inning ended SSU's threat.
The Lady Tigers added another run in the top of the second inning for a 3-0 lead after an inning and a half. Sophomore shortstop
Brianna Harris drove in the run of the game with a sacrifice fly to bring in senior designated hitter

Charleston Southern got on the board in the bottom half after a fielding error that allowed a Buccaneer to score to cut the lead to 3-1 after two innings.
CSU scored another run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to a run, 3-2, after three innings after an RBI single to center field.
The Lady Tigers increased their lead in the top of the fourth inning by scoring three runs for a 6-2 lead after 3 ½ innings. After a strikeout and a groundout to begin the inning, Jenkins doubled to center field, followed by Harris' singled to put runners on the corners with two outs.
Singleton singled to the shortstop to bring in Jenkins and advance Harris to second and stole third to put runners on the corners with two outs. Sophomore first baseman
Ashley Eichenlaub's hit by pitch loaded the bases with two outs. Jones singled down the left field line to score two runs, Singleton and Harris, but was thrown out at second to end the inning.
The Buccaneers scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead back to a run, 6-5, after a solo home run to center field, an RBI double and an error that scored a Buccaneer.
The Lady Tigers added another run in the top of the fifth inning after Hallman's leadoff home run to left center for a 7-5 lead after five innings and added another run in the top of the sixth inning after a strikeout and an error that allowed Harris to score with two outs for the three-run win.
The Buccaneers were led by Jade Gandara going 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI, while Amanda Matsumoto went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Arizona Pilgrim (3-1) picked up the loss pitching 2.0 innings with two earned runs and three hits.
The Lady Tigers return home for a doubleheader against Presbyterian College starting at 1 p.m. at the Lady Tiger Softball Field.
