SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's basketball team fell to Armstrong State University 72-68 in overtime in an exhibition game Monday night in Tiger Arena in the "Battle By the Marsh."
Graduate student guard Lauren "Gabby" Moss led the Lady Tigers with 23 points on 9-for-19 shooting, including 3-for-6 behind the arc with three assists, while senior center
Tiyonda Davis added 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting with eight rebounds and six blocks.

Jeremica Edwards led the team with 11 rebounds, including seven offensive rebounds, with five points and three steals, while senior guard
Kenyata Hendrix added eight points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Savannah State scored the first four points of the game to capture a 4-0 lead with 8:49 remaining in the first quarter, but Armstrong State scored the next four points to tie it at four with 7:53 left. The Lady Tigers scored nine of the next 11 points to take a seven-point lead, 13-6, with 2:54 remaining in the quarter, but an ASU free throw with 29 seconds cut the lead to six, 13-7 after one quarter of play.
A senior guard
Taylor-Ashley Shaw's free throw put SSU's lead back to seven at 14-7 with 8:51 remaining in the second quarter, but Armstrong State scored the next six points to cut the lead to a point, 14-13, with 5:43 left in the quarter. Back-to-back jumpers gave SSU a five-point lead, 18-13, with 5:23 remaining in the first half, but a three-point by the Pirates cut the lead to two points, 18-16, with 4:23 left.
Savannah State scored 10 of the next 16 points to take a six-point lead, 28-22, with 1:49 remaining in the first half, but Armstrong State scored the final four points to cut the lead to two points, 28-26, at the half.
After a jumper by Moss to give SSU a four-point lead, 30-26, with 8:56 remaining in the third quarter, but Armstrong State scored the next four points to tie the game at 30 with 7:35 left. Savannah State scored the next six points to take a six-point lead, 36-30, with 5:38 remaining, but the Pirates scored the next four points to cut the lead to two, 36-34, with 3:04 left. SSU scored seven of the next 10 points to take a six-point lead, 43-37, after three quarters.
Savannah State scored the first seven points in the fourth quarter to take a 13-point lead, 50-37, with 7:56 remaining in the quarter, but Armstrong State scored 15 of the next 19 points to close within two points, 54-52, with 3:19 left. The Lady Tigers scored the next seven points to take a nine-point lead, 61-52, with 1:13 remaining, but Armstrong State scored 11 of the next 13 points to tie the game at 63 at the end of the quarter.
Savannah State scored the first five points in the overtime period to take a five-point lead, 68-63, with 3:25 remaining, but Armstrong State scored the final nine points to capture the four-point overtime win.
The Pirates were led by Mercedes Jenkins and Machala Raymonville with 16 points each, while Lauren Woods added nine points and nine rebounds. Jenkins added six rebounds and eight assists, while Raymonville added seven rebounds.
The Lady Tigers start the regular season traveling to South Orange, N.J., to face Seton Hall University Friday at 11 a.m.
