SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University volleyball team (1-25, 1-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes the season with a trip to Orangeburg, S.C., to face South Carolina State University (0-24, 0-9 MEAC) Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Lady Tigers went 0-2 last weekend in North Carolina with losses to North Carolina A&T State University 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25) in Greensboro Friday and to North Carolina Central University 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 20-25) in Durham Sunday.
Senior setter
Caitlynn Masoe leads the Lady Tigers with 1.98 kills per set and is averaging 2.40 assists per set, 0.40 service ace per set and 1.83 digs per set, while freshman middle blocker
Dominique Ingram leads the team with 0.74 blocks per set and is second on the team with 1.95 kills per set.
Junior setter
Alee Quint leads the team with 5.10 assists per set, while senior libero
Alexis Washington leads the team with 3.48 digs per set.
The last time these two schools met, the Lady Tigers came away with the first win of the season with a 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-22, 25-15) win in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium on Oct. 17. Masoe led the Lady Tigers with 17 kills, while Ingram added 15 and senior middle hitter
Gabrielle Nathaniel added nine kills. Quint recorded a season-high 42 assists, while Washington added 15 digs. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Brianna Dafney with 21 kills, Fabiola Plaza with 28 assists and Tyler Ockleberry with 10 digs.
SCSU is looking for its first win of the season. The Lady Bulldogs are led by Dafney with 3.05 kills per set, Plaza with 5.42 assists per set and Ockleberry with 2.43 digs per set.
