SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University volleyball team (1-23, 1-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) travels to Greensboro, N.C., Friday to face North Carolina A&T State University (7-11, 4-1 MEAC) at 7 p.m. and to Durham, N.C., Sunday to face North Carolina Central University (3-13, 2-3 MEAC) at 1 p.m.
The Lady Tigers went 0-3 this past weekend after opening the week with a 3-1 win over South Carolina State University. SSU fell to Bethune-Cookman University 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 14-25) Friday, to Florida A&M 3-0 (13-25, 15-25, 10-25) Sunday and to Georgia Southern 3-1 (18-25, 9-25, 25-14, 13-25) Monday.
Senior setter
Caitlynn Masoe leads the Lady Tigers averaging 2.03 kills per set, while averaging 2.27 assists per set, 0.38 service aces per set, which ranks sixth in the MEAC and 58
th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and 1.79 digs per set. The Long Beach, Calif., native's 30 service aces ranks fifth in the conference and 71
st in the NCAA.
Junior setter
Alee Quint leads the team with 4.95 assists per set, while senior libero
Alexis Washington leads the team with 3.44 digs per set, which ranks eighth in the conference.
Freshman middle blocker
Dominique Ingram leads the team with 0.73 blocks per set, which ranks seventh in the conference and is second on the team averaging 1.86 kills per set.
The Lady Tigers have faced both of these teams earlier this season. NCAT defeated SSU 3-0 (25-19, 20-25, 27-25) on Sept. 30, while NCCU also defeated SSU 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-17) on Oct. 1.
NCAT has won five of the last seven matches. The Aggies are led by Samara Brown with 3.39 kills per set, Liz Martino with 6.25 assists per set and Keniah Rivera with 3.56 digs per set.
NCCU has lost all five matches since opening the MEAC with a win over SSU and SCSU. The Eagles are led by Casey Curran with 2.48 kills per set, Paige Phillips with 6.85 assists per set and Bree Simmons with 3.40 digs per set.
The Lady Tigers finish the regular season with South Carolina State on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in Orangeburg, S.C.
