STATESBORO, Ga. – Senior outside hitter Christian Lyle led the team with six kills, with a .462 hitting percentage and with four total blocks as Savannah State University volleyball team fell to Georgia Southern 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-14) Tuesday night at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Freshman setter Briana Littlejohn led the team with 10 assists, while junior libero Alexis Washington led the team with 11 digs.

Junior middle blocker Gabrielle Nathaniel and freshman outside hitter Chinenye Ofodile each added four kills, while junior setter Caitlynn Masoe added seven assists and seven digs and sophomore outside hitter Zariya Thomas added two kills and six digs. 
 
With the score tied at three early in the first set, GSU scored the next four points to open a 7-3 lead, but the Lady Tigers battled back to within a point, 7-6.  The Eagles outscored SSU 18-3 during the rest of the set to take an early 1-0 lead.  Lyle and Thomas led the team with two kills each, while Littlejohn led the team with five assists and Washington added three digs.
 
With the Eagles holding a point lead early in the second set, 3-2, GSU scored seven of the next 10 points to increase its lead to 10-5.  The Eagles outscored the Lady Tigers 15-13 during the rest of the set to take a 2-0 lead heading into intermission.  Nathaniel led the team with three kills, while Masoe added four assists and Washington added three digs.
 
With GSU holding a 4-2 lead in the third set, the Lady Tigers scored two of the next three points to close the gap to a point, 5-4, but the Eagles scored the next four points to take a 9-4 lead.  GSU outscored SSU 16-10 during the rest of the set to win the set and the match.  Ofodile led the team with three kills, while Littlejohn added four assists and Masoe added six digs.
 
The Eagles were led by Stephanie Spencer with 12 kills and added a .333 hitting percentage and 11 digs, Katie Bange with 21 assists and Alex Beecher with 13 digs.
