GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior center
Tiyonda Davis led the Savannah State University women's basketball team (1-2) with seven rebounds, four blocks and three steals, while adding three points as the Lady Tigers fell to the University of Florida (3-1) 99-34 Tuesday night in O'Connell Center.

Kenyata Hendrix led the team with 13 points, including nine points in the third quarter, on 6-for-12 shooting, and added two rebounds, two assists and a block, while junior guard
Taylor-Ashley Shaw added six points and junior forward
Jeremica Edwards added five rebounds and five points.
The Gators got off to a quick start by scoring 15 of the first 18 points in the game for a 15-3 lead with 5:25 remaining in the opening quarter. The Lady Tigers cut the lead to seven, 15-8, with two layups and a made free throw, but UF outscored SSU 13-5 during the rest of the quarter to take a 15-point lead, 28-13, after one quarter of play. Shaw led SSU with four points during the quarter as SSU shot .417 (5-for-12).
The Lady Tigers we held scoreless in the second quarter as the Gators added 22 points in the quarter to extend their lead to 37 points, 50-13 heading into halftime.
SSU got off to a quick start in the third quarter as the Lady Tigers scored six of the first eight points to cut the Gators lead to 33, 52-19, with 8:27 remaining in the quarter. UF outscored SSU 31-8 during the rest of the quarter to take a 54-point lead, 83-27, after three quarters of play. Hendrix went 4-for-4 and scored nine points during the quarter with a rebound and a block.
In the final quarter, the Gators outscored SSU 16-7 to take home the 65 point win. Edwards scored four points in the final quarter, while sophomore forward
Tanease Richardson added two rebounds.
The Gators were led by Ronni Williams and January Miller with 16 points each, followed by Eleanna Christinaki and Tyshara Fleming with 11 points each. Williams added 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Fleming added eight rebounds.
The Lady Tigers close out the three-game stretch against Southeastern Conference opponents against No. 8 Mississippi State on Sunday at 3 p.m. before returning home to play in-state rival Georgia Southern on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
