SAVANNAH, Ga. – Junior guard
Kenyata Hendrix led the Savannah State University women's basketball with 15 points as the Lady Tigers (1-1) fell to Auburn University (3-1) 62-40 in Tiger Arena Sunday.
Hendrix went 5-for-13 from the field and 3-for-5 from the free throw line and added four rebounds, an assist and a steal, while sophomore forward
Shanikwa Buie led the team with six rebounds and added five points and a steal.

Deyja Brown added eight points and two steals, while junior center
Tiyonda Davis added seven points, four rebounds and two steals with one block.
Auburn scored the first seven points of the game for a 7-0 lead, but the Lady Tigers outscored the Tigers 10-3 to tie the game at 10 with 3:39 remaining in the first quarter. With both teams scoring two points to keep the game tied, at 12 with 2:28 left in the quarter, Auburn scored the final seven points of the quarter to lead SSU 19-12 after one quarter of play. Buie led SSU with four points, while Hendrix and Brown each added three points during the quarter.
Auburn got off to another quick start to begin the second quarter by outscoring SSU 6-2 for an 11-point lead, 25-14 with 5:15 left in the first half, but a three-pointer by sophomore guard
Lauryn Fields cut AU's lead to eight, 25-17. Auburn outscored SSU 11-2 during the rest of the second quarter to take a halftime lead 36-19. Fields led the team with three points, while Buie and junior forward
Jeremica Edwards each recorded two rebounds during the quarter.
The Lady Tigers scored the first five points of the third quarter to cut AU's lead to 36-24 with 5:32 remaining in the quarter, but the Tigers scored the next seven points to lead by 19, 43-24 with 3:49 remaining. The Lady Tigers outscored Auburn 6-1 to cut AU's lead to 14, 44-30, but two free throws by the Tigers with three seconds left, gave Auburn a 16-point lead, 46-30, after three quarters of play. Davis and Hendrix each recorded four points, while Davis added three rebounds during the third quarter.
The Lady Tigers scored five of the first seven points of the final quarter to cut AU's lead to 13, 48-35, with 7:14 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Auburn outscored SSU 14-5 during the rest of the quarter to capture a 22-point win. Hendrix led SSU with six points, while Buie and Hendrix each added two rebounds during the quarter.
Auburn was led by Brandy Montgomery with a game-high 16 points, while Tra'Cee Tanner and Jonika Garvin added 12 points. Tanner recorded a game-high eight rebounds.
The Lady Tigers continue facing SEC opponents with a trip to Gainesville, Fla., to face the University of Florida on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and then traveling to Starksville, Miss., on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 3 p.m.
