SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University volleyball team travels to Orangeburg, S.C., to face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent South Carolina State on Friday at 7 p.m. in Dukes Gymnasium.
 
Junior middle blocker Gabrielle Nathaniel leads the team with 88 kills, 1.38 kills per set, and with 24 total blocks, 0.38 blocks per set, and has added 10 service aces, 0.16 service ace per set, 88 digs, 1.38 digs per set, and 16 assists.  Over the last two matches, the Ontario, Canada native has recorded a team-high 17 kills, 2.83 kills per set, eight digs, seven total blocks, 1.17 blocks per set, three assists, and hit .270 against N.C. Central and North Florida.
 
Junior setter Caitlynn Masoe leads the team with 240 assists, 3.75 assists per set, and is second on the team with 85 kills, 1.33 kills per set, with 14 service aces, 0.22 service ace per set and with 100 digs, 1.56 digs per set.  The Long Beach, Calif., native has added 19 total blocks, 0.30 blocks per set.
 
Junior libero Alexis Washington leads the team with 211 digs, 3.20 digs per set, and has recorded 11 service aces, 0.17 service ace per set, while freshman outside hitter Makayla Tam leads the team with 1.40 kills per set, 84 kills, and with 16 service ace, 0.27 service ace per set, and has added 12 total blocks, 0.20 blocks per set, 63 digs, 1.05 digs per set, and 12 assists.
 
The Lady Tigers (0-22, 0-4 MEAC) fell to a non-conference opponent of North Florida on Tuesday 3-0 25-14, 25-18, 25-15).  Nathaniel led the team with team with nine kills and added three total blocks, two assists and had a .316 hitting percentage.  Mosoe led the team with 14 assists and added six kills with a .500 hitting percentage and added six digs and two block assists and a service ace, while Washington led the team with nine digs and Tam added six kills.
 
South Carolina State (1-11, 1-3 MEAC) picked up its first win on Friday at N.C. Central with a 3-0 sweep, but fell to N.C. A&T 3-0 on Sunday last weekend.  The Bulldogs are led by Brianna Dafney with 103 kills, 2.58 kills per set, Melanie Williams with 342 assists, 8.55 assists per set, and Kirby Anderson with 100 digs, 2.50 digs per set.
 
The Lady Tigers return home for a non-conference match against Mercer on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium for the only match next week.
