SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University volleyball team finishes its regular season with the final three matches at home in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium starting with two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents this weekend of North Carolina A&T State on Friday at 6 p.m. and North Carolina Central on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Junior middle blocker Gabrielle Nathaniel leads the team with 123 kills, 1.48 kills per set, and with 32 total blocks, 0.39 blocks per set.  The Ontario, Canada native is third on the team with 133 digs, 1.60 digs per set, and fourth on the team with 14 service aces, 0.17 service ace per set.
 
Tam leads the team with 1.49 kills per set, 118 kills, and with 20 service aces, 0.25 service ace per set.  The Woodland, Calif., native has added 84 digs, 13 total blocks and 19 assists, while junior libero Alexis Washington leads the team with 271 digs, 3.19 digs per set, and is third on the team with 15 service aces, 0.18 service ace per set.
 
Junior setter Caitlynn Masoe leads the team with 354 assists, 4.27 assists per set, and is second on the team with 19 service aces, 0.23 service ace per set, and with 138 digs, 1.66 digs per set.  The Long Beach, Calif., native is third on the team with 100 kills, 1.20 kills per set, and has added 24 total blocks, 0.29 blocks per set.
 
Last week, the Lady Tigers (0-28, 0-7 MEAC) went 0-4 with losses at The Citadel 3-1 (30-28, 11-25, 13-25, 18-25), Alabama State 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-21), at Bethune-Cookman 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-14) and at Florida A&M 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-11).
 
Tam led the team in the four matches last week with 27 kills, 2.08 kills per set, and added two service aces and 14 digs, while Nathaniel and freshman outside hitter Chinenye Ofodile each recorded 25 kills, 1.92 kills per set.  Nathaniel added two service aces, 30 digs, 2.31 digs per set, and four total blocks, 0.31 blocks per set.  Masoe led the team with 83 assists, 6.38 assists per set, and added 11 kills, five service aces, 0.38 service ace per set, and 29 digs, 2.23 digs per set, while Washington led the team with 46 digs, 3.54 digs per set.
 
North Carolina A&T State (5-11, 3-3 MEAC) fell to North Carolina Central 3-1 in the only match last week.  The Aggies are led by Brooke Stamnes with 174 kills, 3.00 kills per set, Kayla Finnerty with 244 assists, 7.62 assist per set, and Ashley Johnson with 232 digs, 4.00 digs per set.   
 
The Aggies and the Lady Tigers have played each other on the court this season.  On Oct. 2, NCAT defeated the Lady Tigers 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) in Greensboro, N.C.  Nathaniel, Tam and Lyle led SSU with five kills each, while Washington led the team with 17 digs and with four aces and Masoe led the team with 16 assists.  The Aggies were led by Stamnes with 12 kills, Liz Martino with 23 assists and Johnson with 14 digs.
 
North Carolina Central (3-21, 2-4 MEAC) went 0-2 last week with losses to Campbell (3-0) and N.C A&T State (3-1) and is looking to snap its five match losing streak.  The Eagles are led by Kelsey Murphy with 282 kills, 3.53 kills per set, Casey Curran with 520 assists, 7.54 assist per set, and Tamika Brekke with 191 digs, 3.35 digs per set.
 
The Eagles swept the Lady Tigers earlier this season 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 27-25) on Oct. 4 in Durham, N.C.  Nathaniel led SSU with eight kills, while Washington led the team with 13 digs and Masoe led the team with 23 assists.  NCCU was led by Murphy with 12 kills, Curran with 28 assists and Paige Phillips with 10 digs.
 
The Lady Tigers host the final game of the season, for senior day, against South Carolina State on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gym.
