SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University volleyball team travels to North Carolina this weekend to face North Carolina A&T on Friday at 7 p.m. in Greensboro and North Carolina Central on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Durham.
 
Junior setter Caitlynn Masoe leads the team with 75 kills, 1.36 kills per set, and with 187 assists, 3.40 assists per set.  The Long Beach, Calif., native is second on the team with 11 service aces, 0.20 service ace per set, and with 84 digs, 1.53 digs per set, and has added 14 total blocks, 0.25 blocks per set.
 
Freshman outside hitter Makayla Tam is second on the team with 69 kills, 1.35 kills per set, and leads the team with 13 service aces, 0.25 service ace per set, and has added 53 digs and nine total blocks.  Junior middle blocker Gabrielle Nathaniel is third on the team with 66 kills, 1.20 kills per set, and is second on the team with 16 total blocks, 0.29 blocks per set.  The Ontario, Canada native is third on the team with 75 digs, 1.36 digs per set, and with 10 service aces, 0.18 service ace per set. 
 
Senior outside hitter leads the team with 19 total blocks, 0.37 blocks per set, and has added 65 kills, 1.25 kills per set, while junior Alex Washington leads the team with 172 digs, 3.02 digs per set. 
 
Last week, the Lady Tigers went 0-4 with losses to Charleston Southern 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-23), The Citadel 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-13), Bethune-Cookman 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13) and Florida A&M 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-15).
 
Tam led SSU (0-19, 2-0 MEAC) with 20 kills, 1.67 kills per set, and added three service aces, 20 digs, 1.67 digs per set, three total blocks, 0.25 blocks per set and three assists last week, while Masoe led the team with 57 assists, 4.75 assists per set, and added 16 kills, 1.33 kills per set, 21 digs, 1.75 digs per set and eight total blocks, 0.67 blocks per set.  Washington led the team with 38 digs, 3.17 digs per set, while Nathaniel added 19 kills, four service aces, 18 digs, 1.50 digs per set, and five total blocks, 0.42 blocks per set. 
 
NC A&T (2-7, 0-1 MEAC) and NC Central (2-15, 1-0 MEAC) squared off last weekend as NCCU defeated the Aggies 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-20) to open conference play.
 
NC A&T is led by Brooke Stamnes with 93 kills, 2.74 kills per set, Kayla Finnerty with 244 assists, 7.62 assist per set, and Ashley Johnson with 116 digs, 3.41 digs per set.
 
NC Central is led by Kelsey Murphy with 202 kills, 3.48 kills per set, Casey Curran with 344 assists, 7.32 assist per set, and Tamkia Brekke with 168 digs, 3.73 digs per set. 
 
The Lady Tigers return home for a non-conference match against North Florida on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to South Carolina State on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
