The victory also snapped a five-game losing streak.

The crowd of 820 saw the Yellow Jackets lead by as many as five points early in the game. Allen, who competes in the NAIA, led 13-8 with 11:49 left in the first half before the Tigers went on a 11-1 spurt to go ahead 19-14.

Allen (2-10) pulled within 21-20 with 5:14 left but SSU closed the half with a 13-5 run and took a 34-25 lead into intermission.

The Yellow Jackets trimmed their gap to 34-29 early in the second period but Savannah State reeled off a 19-3 run to grab a 21 point lead with just under 14 minutes remaining.

A pair of free throws by
Terel Hall gave the Tigers a 62-40 cushion, their largest of the evening, with 6:42 left.

Allen answered SSU with a 8-1 run to get within 15 with 3:33 on the clock but could get no closer.

Savannah State (4-10) was led by Hall's 16 points and four assists. Hall went 10-for-10 from the free throw line.

Alante Fenner came off the bench to add 12 points.

The Tigers shot 52.6 percent from the field in the first half and 42.2 percent for the game.

Allen, who out-rebounded SSU 38-35, was led by Mark Jones' 10 points.

The game was a homecoming for Savannah native Richard Wilson, who is a reserve guard for Allen.

Wilson, who had a sister (Rachel Wilson) run track at SSU, had seven points, two rebounds and two steals.
