THE GAMES:
The Lady Tigers continue the nonconference portion of their 2014 season with the first of two tournaments.

SSU travels to Cedar City, Utah for the Southern Utah University Tournament. They are slated to play host, and Big Sky member, Southern Utah, fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) school Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday, and Big West school UC Riverside on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers opened the season with two wins last weekend, beating Brewton-Parker and Fort Valley in Tiger Arena. It was the first time since 2008 the Lady Tigers opened a season with back-to-back wins.

SSU is on a 3-game winning streak - the longest win streak since the 2009 season - that dates back to the program's first MEAC win in the last regular season game of the 2013 season against North Carolina Central.

Jolanta Graham enters her first year as the head coach, after a year and a half as the interim head coach. Graham was named the sixth head coach in SSU's Division I era during the 2013-14 offseason.

Graham's new approach to the program will build on an academics first mentality. In the 2014 spring semester, the volleyball team had the second highest GPA of all the Savannah State sports.

Returner Justice Dilworth leads the team after two games with 24 kills and 15 digs, as well as a .357 hitting percentage. Newcomer Zariya Thomas and returner Christian Lyle also top the SSU leaderboard with 13 kills apiece.

SSU will play in the ISTAP Collegiate Cup in Montgomery, Alabama, hosted by Alabama State, on September 11 and 12, before returning home to face Alabama A&M on September 18.
