THE GAMES:
Savannah State volleyball enters the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) portion of the 2014 schedule with a 3-11 record.
 
They face the MEAC Southern Division's two historically best teams in Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. However, both schools have had rough starts to the season. FAMU is 2-10 overall and Bethune-Cookman is 2-13.
 
Florida A&M won the MEAC Southern Division title in 2013, finishing in second overall to MEAC Northern Division team Hampton University. In 2012, FAMU breezed through the conference with a 10-0 record. Bethune-Cookman finished the last two years with a 5-5 conference record, making the MEAC Conference Tournament both years.
 
The Lady Tigers are winless against both teams after three years of competition in the conference.
 
FAMU is led by Pamela Sorano (137 kills), as well as Yeshia Arcia (68 kills) and Ginna Lopez-Chavez (68 kills). Cookman is led by Rhea Simon (170 kills) and Delicia Pierre (91 kills).
 
Savannah State enters the Florida trip after a well fought loss to Charleston Southern this past week.
 
The Lady Tigers are led by junior Justice Dilworth (96 kills, 92 digs) and Gabrielle Nathaniel (70 kills).On defense, Alexis Washington has 80 digs on the season, and Nathaniel leads in blocks (17).  
 
SSU returns home after the weekend in Florida to face Charleston Southern on September 30, and South Carolina State (MEAC) on October 3.
