Box Score
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lady Tiger volleyball squad made quick work of Tougaloo College in their last home match before an extended road stretch Friday night in Willcox-Wiley Gym.

SSU downed the Mississippi College 3-0 with a balanced attack, improving their record to 3-8 on the season. Tougaloo falls to 1-7 on the season.

Early in the opening set teams went back and forth, until SSU broke the stalemate with an 11-0 run, helmed by 10 straight service points from newcomer Olivia Wasdin.

Freshman Zariya Thomas recorded four kills in the run, and sophomore Caitlynn Masoe added two.

Despite a late effort from Tougaloo, the huge mid-set run was too much to overcome as SSU cruised to a 25-16 victory.

It was all Savannah State in the second set. Tougaloo managed only nine points, as the Lady Tigers breezed to a 2-0 lead with a 25-9 set win. Gabrielle Nathaniel led SSU in the set with six kills, and the Lady Tigers registered a .500 hitting percentage with only three attack errors.

Tougaloo didn't relinquish the match easily in the final set, holding a 5-4 lead early on. Freshman Lynae Bryant pushed SSU to a 12-9 lead behind four straight service points midway through.

Late in the set, SSU pulled away from Tougaloo behind three service points from Nathaniel that lifted the Lady Tigers to a 20-15 lead.

Two kills from junior Justice Dilworth sealed up a 25-18 set win and the 3-0 match win.

Dilworth again led the Lady Tigers in the match with 10 kills. She recorded her first career double-double (11 kills, 11 digs) on Thursday against Alabama A&M. She leads the team in kills (75) and digs (78) after 11 games.

Nathaniel and Thomas each registered nine kills, and Masoe put up six. Dilworth led in digs with five, while Masoe followed with four.

The Lady Tigers hit the road for a five game stretch, in which they will open the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) portion of the season against powerhouse Florida A&M on September 26.

First, they travel to Boling Springs, N.C. to face Wofford College and Gardner-Webb University this coming Sunday, September 21.
