THE GAMES:
The Lady Tigers return home after a disappointing, yet promising seven game road swing.

SSU fell to 2-7 on the season with losses in the Southern Utah and IS TAP Collegiate Cup 2 tournaments. However, in comparison to previous years playing against top ranked NCAA Division I teams, the Lady Tigers fared better this season.

Against regional rivals, The Citadel, SSU forced a fifth set after winning the second set in the final minutes. Against Alabama State, the Lady Tigers lost by two points in the final set, and against new opponents Southeast Missouri and Towson they put up over 20 points in a couple of close losses.

Helping the Lady Tigers improve on the scoring drought of yesteryear is a combination of returners and newcomers making a staple in the stats. Junior Justice Dilworth leads the squad, averaging 2.0 kills per set and 2.3 digs a set.

Freshman Zariya Thomas is close behind Dilworth with 42 kills, averaging 1.62 per set. Sophomore Gabrielle Nathaniel is averaging 1.50 kills per set with 42 overall.

Sophomore setter Caitlynn Masoe's return to the hardwood was noticeable. Against Southeast Missouri, Masoe led in assists with 17 and recorded five digs. After missing the first five games, she is second on the team in assists with 53. Freshman Lynae Bryant, who filled in for Masoe, leads with 106 assists.

The Lady Tigers will play the first games of the season in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium, their home court. They opened the season in Tiger Arena with a tri-match.
