Volleyball Closes Out Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURHAM, N.C. – The Savannah State volleyball team closed out the 29th season of the program  in Durham, North Carolina this weekend with the best record since 2010.
 
The Lady Tigers finished 5-27 overall this season. The last team to garner five wins was the 2010 Lady Tigers, who finished 5-23.
 
Despite the positive overall record, SSU faltered in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play this year, ending the season with an 0-10 record.
 
SSU dropped the final two games of the regular season against MEAC opponent's North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central.
 
On Sunday, SSU played the Lady Eagles tough in the final game of the season, but fell in straight sets, 0-3 (22-25, 25-27, and 26-28).
 
Junior Justice Dilworth led the Lady Tigers with 12 kills on the day and seven digs. Alexis Washington led in digs with 16. NCCU's Kelsey Murphy led the field with 13 kills.
 
In SSU's second to last game on Friday, the Lady Tigers fell in straight sets, 0-3 (16-25, 12-25, and 18-25) to North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro, North Carolina.
 
Dilworth led the Lady Tigers in the loss, recording nine kills and five digs. Washington led the team on defense with 11 digs. Aleena McDaniel led the Lady Aggies with 10 kills.
 
The Lady Tigers lose two seniors this season, returning the core of starters to the hardwood for the program's 30th season.
