Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C.- Savannah State failed to find any consistency on offense and defense as the Tigers lost to South Carolina State 59-7, before a crowd of 10,013 at Dawson Stadium.

It did not help the Tigers that it was about 55 degrees with wind and rain.

SSU could only muster 130 yards of offense while the Bulldogs (6-3, 4-1) had 264.

The Tigers lone score came on their first possession of the fourth quarter with just over ten minutes left in the game as Tino Smith threw a six-yard scoring pass to
Jaylen McGriff. It was McGriff's only reception of the game and the first touchdown catch of his career.
John Barron added the extra point to make the score 52-7. During the 15-play, 68-yard drive that started at the SSU 32, Richard Williams had six carries for 32 yards.

Jalen Simmons had touchdown runs of 16 and 17 yards in the first quarter to give the Bulldogs a 14-0 advantage.

SC State added four touchdowns in the second quarter to widen their lead as Taquan West caught two touchdown passes from Adrian Kollock, Antonio Hamilton scored on a 55-yard punt return and Dondre Lewis-Freeman scored on a four yard run.

The Bulldogs led 42-0 at the half.

In the third quarter, the SCSU homecoming crowd saw Tyler Scandrett kick a 28-yard field goal and Dominique Mitchell return a interception 86 yards for a touchdown to expand their cushion to 52-0.

South Carolina State's Devondre Powell returned a interception 40 yards for a touchdown with 6:56 remaining to cap the scoring for the game.

Despite the score, Savannah State played better in the second half, gaining 107 yards to the Bulldogs 89.

The Tigers entered halftime with only 23 yards of offense. SSU didn't cross midfield until the third quarter.

Williams ran for 49 yards for SSU while Smith and
Leon Prunty combined to complete 10 of 25 passes for 31 yards. Jeremiah Harris caught two passes for nine yards.

Alfred Ansley had seven tackles for the Tigers while
Justin Dixon had a interception to accompany his six tackles.

Dayshaw Taylor had nine tackles for SCSU while Simmons ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns. West had two receptions for 35 yards and touchdown catches of 16 and 19 yards. Kollock threw for 68 yards and two touchdowns.

The loss gives Savannah State a 0-9 overall record and a 0-6 mark in the conference.
