THE GAME:
The Lady Tigers play their first home Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game of the season against South Carolina State on the Friday of Homecoming weekend.

SSU is 0-2 in MEAC play this year after opening the conference portion of their season with road losses to Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. They are 3-14 overall.

The Lady Tigers will be without outside hitter and statistical leader Justice Dilworth for the game on Friday, but that didn't slow the Lady Tigers down against Charleston Southern in their last outing. SSU fell 0-3 to the Lady Bucs, but not without some fight. (Read about it here)

Behind Dilworth in the stats is newcomer Zariya Thomas, who is averaging 1.72 kills per set. Sophomore Gabrielle Nathaniel is averaging 1.43 kills per set, and leads the team in blocks with 19.

South Carolina State enters Friday's contest 0-16 overall and 0-2 in the MEAC. The Lady Bulldogs also lost to Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman this past weekend in their MEAC openers. Marissa Lawrence leads SCSU averaging 2.4 kills per set. Kirby Anderson follows, averaging 1.51 kills a set.

Homecoming weekend begins with the Lady Tigers on Friday and concludes on Saturday when the SSU football team takes on Norfolk State.(Read more here)
