Volleyball Falls To Bethune-Cookman

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State volleyball team fell in three sets, 16-25, 15-25, 15-25, to Bethune-Cookman, Sunday afternoon in Willcox-Wiley Gym.

The Lady Tigers fall to 0-18 and 0-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Bethune-Cookman improves to 1-1 in the MEAC and 2-15 overall.

Sophomore Christian Lyle led the Lady Tigers with six kills and a .286 hitting percentage. Sophomore Justice Dilworth added four kills. Alexis Washington led the SSU defense with 13 digs.

Rhea Simon led the Lady Wildcats with 10 kills and four digs. Delicia Pierre added four kills. Normaire Rolon and Alexas Thomas led in digs with eight each.

The Lady Tigers continue the 2013 campaign with four away games. They begin the road stretch with a MEAC game against regional rival South Carolina State on October 4.

SSU returns home on October 20 with a nonconference match against Alabama State. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
