THE GAME:
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lady Tigers will play their second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match of the season Sunday afternoon as they host the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

The Lady Tigers fell in their opening MEAC match, Friday night, to conference powerhouse Florida A&M. Despite the final score, SSU put up the most points (50) against the Lady Rattlers since joining the MEAC in 2010.

SSU is looking for their first win of the season and their first conference win for the program. Leading the Lady Tigers are senior Bryana Gadis and sophomore Bianca Brochu. Each has 75 kills on the season and are both averaging 1.44 kills per set.

Defensively, Gadis leads the team in digs (107), while sophomore Christian Lyle leads the team in blocks (26).

SSU got a boost with the return of freshman libero Alexis Washington off the injury list. Washington and Asiha Williams led the team in digs against Florida A&M with six each. Despite missing several games, Washington is second on the team in digs (93).

This is the 28th season of volleyball at Savannah State. Interim head coach Jolanta Graham enters her first full year at the helm. Graham took over midway through the 2012 season. The Lady Tigers are a 10 person squad this year with six returners and four newcomers.
