THE GAMES:
 SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Lady Tigers continue their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) schedule with a visit to regional rival South Carolina State on Friday evening. They continue the weekend's road trip with a quick visit to East Carolina for a nonconference match on Saturday.
 
The Lady Tigers dropped both of their opening MEAC games this past weekend, falling to Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M in Savannah. SSU is still in search of a win. They are 0-18 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
 
SSU last played South Carolina State on November 2, 2012 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The Lady Tigers fell in straight sets (13-25, 10-25, 15-25). Since SSU joined the MEAC (2011), the Lady Bulldogs hold a 4-0 series lead.
 
This will be only the second matchup against East Carolina University. The Lady Pirates have a 1-0 series advantage. SSU dropped their first meeting on September 12, 2009 in straight sets, 2-25, 10-25, 11-25.
 
Sophomore Bianca Brochu has stepped up to lead the Lady Tigers. She is averaging 1.42 kills per game with 78 overall. Defensively, SSU is led by senior Bryana Gadis who has 113 digs (2.05 dig/g). Freshman Caitlynn Masoe has emerged as the Lady Tigers primary setter, assisting on 258 kills in 55 games. Christian Lyle leads SSU in blocks with 27.0 overall.  
 
This is the 28th season of volleyball at Savannah State. Interim head coach Jolanta Graham enters her first full year at the helm. Graham took over midway through the 2012 season. The Lady Tigers are a 10 person squad this year with six returners and four newcomers.

INJURY REPORT:
Freshman Gabrielle Nathaniel will miss this weekend's games due to an undisclosed injury. Nathaniel is scheduled to return in mid to late October.

SCOUTING REPORT VERSUS S.C. STATE:
The Lady Bulldogs enter this weekend with a lone win. They defeated MEAC rival Bethune-Cookman last weekend in a five game match (25-20, 25-21, 25-27, 20-25, 18-26) at home. They are 1-15 overall and 1-1 in the MEAC.

After beating the Lady Wildcats last weekend, S.C. State fell to Florida A&M in a four game match (25-22, 10-25, 8-25, 14-25).

S.C. State is led by Desire Waller who has 197 kills on the season, averaging 3.86 per game and is second on the team in digs with 112, averaging 2.20 a game. Victoria Ferguson leads the Lady Bulldogs in digs with 130.

SCOUTING REPORT VERSUS EAST CAROLINA:
The Lady Pirates are looking for a comeback after opening their Conference USA schedule with two losses last week. They fell to North Texas and Rice in straight sets.

ECU host The University of Alabama at Birmingham in a conference game on Friday, before hosting the Lady Tigers on Saturday. ECU is 7-10 overall and 2-1 at home.

They are led by Nicole Willis, who is averaging 4.09 kills per game with a .146 percentage and 237 overall kills. Willis trails only Virginia Fitch (33) in blocks with 30 overall. Shelby Beasley leads the team defensively with 212 digs.
