Volleyball Drops Final Road Game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Savannah State volleyball team dropped their final road game of the season to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) perennial power Florida A&M on Sunday in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Lady Tigers fell in three sets, 20-25, 11-25 and 17-25 to the Lady Rattlers. FAMU keeps an unblemished mark in conference play with the win, improving to 11-6 overall and 7-0 in the MEAC. SSU falls to 0-26 and 0-7 in conference.

Senior Bryana Gadis stepped up to lead the Lady Tigers in the loss. She had a .300 hitting percentage with eight kills on 20 attacks. Bianca Brochu added seven kills. Alexis Washington led the team on defense with 12 digs.

Katherine Huanec and Yeisha Arcia led the Lady Rattlers with double-digit kills. Arcia led the field with 11 kills, while Huanec registered 10. Joanie Del Castillo led on defense with 17 digs. FAMU had a .416 hitting percentage as a team in the win.

SSU closes out the 2013 season with four straight home games. They open the stretch with their final nonconference match against Jacksonville University on October 30. First serve in the “Dig Pink” game is set for 6 p.m.

The final three games of the season will be against MEAC foes. They face South Carolina State on November 3, North Carolina A&T State on November 8, and finally, North Carolina Central on November 10.
