Rashad Hassan came off the bench to add 17 as Savannah State won their sixth game in a row with a 64-49 victory over South Carolina State in the SHM Memorial Center.
The crowd of 713 saw the Tigers shoot 54.2 percent from the field in the opening period and they led 32-21 at the half.
SSU turned a one point lead into a 18-6 lead with 13:17 left in the first half with a 13-2 run.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 13 (26-13) with 7:15 on the clock on a jumper by Blackman.
SCSU would get as close as eight with less than four minutes left in the first half.
The Savannah State reserves out-scored the SCSU bench 15-0 in the first period.
SSU (11-9, 5-1) went up by 14 early in the second half but the Bulldogs rallied to cut their deficit to 43-34 with 10:53 left.
The Tigers answered the SCSU run with a 13-3 surge to go ahead 56-37 with 6:36 remaining.
A layup by Blackman gave SSU their biggest lead of the night at 62-42 with just under three minutes left.
The Bulldogs out-scored SSU 7-2 down the stretch but it would not be enough.
Matthew Hezekiah led SCSU (4-15, 0-6) with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Savannah State shot 48.1 percent from the floor for the game and made 41.7 percent of their 3-point attempts.
Arnold Louis had nine rebounds for the Tigers.
