SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State made 14 of 26 3-point shots as the Tigers scored a season-high 83 points in a 83-53 win over South Carolina State in Tiger Arena.
Deric Rudolph made eight 3-pointers while preston Blackmon made five of seven attempts.
Rudolph finished with a game-high 24 points while Blackmon added 17.
Rashad Hassan added 13 points and
Arnold Louis came off the bech to contribute eight points and eight rebounds.
SCSU (4-15, 0-6) led 12-8 but the Tigers strung together a 21-7 run to go ahead 29-19 with 3:45 left in the opening period.
Savannah State led 31-23 at the half.
The Tigers led 33-25 early in the second half but a 19-4 run increased their advantage to 52-29 with 14:26 on the clock.
South Carolina State trimmed their deficit to 16 but the crowd of 2,185 witnessed a 13-3 Tiger run that gave the home team a 71-45 lead with 4:05 on the clock.
SSU led by 28 with 38 seconds remaining after a layup by
Patrick Hendley and a fast-break dunk by Hendley with 31 seconds on the clock proved to be the game-winning margin.
The Tigers, who improved to 6-1 at home, shot 59.5 percent from the floor in the second half and 48.5 percent for the game. SSU made 61.5 percent of their 3-pointers in the second half and shot 53.8 percent for the game. The Tigers (9-10, 5-2) struggled at the free throw line, making 5 of 15 attempts.
South Carolina State out-rebounded the Tigers 47 to 38 but shot 28.1 percent from the floor and missed all 11 3-point attempts.
Luka Radovic had 14 points and 9 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
