Lady Tigers Drops a Pair at the Citadel Tournament

Charleston, S.C.—Savannah State University's volleyball team dropped a pair of games to Bethune-Cookman University (0-3) and The Citadel (0-3) on Friday, August 26 in McAlister Field House.

The Lady Tigers played Bethune Cookman for the first game of the day and, fell 11-25, 16-25, and 18-25 in front of a crowd of 72 patrons.

SSU's middle blocker, Bianca Helton, was strong defensively with a game high four blocks. Bryana Gadis, and Helton recorded a team high four kills each, while Ashlee Butler was the game second leading setter with 11 assists.

BCU's Krysta Gardener led the Lady Wildcats with 15 of their 39 kills; Frances Rodrigues recorded the game high of 21 assists.

Savannah State and the Lady Wildcats will faceoff for the second time this season on September 9 at the Stetson Tournament in Deland, Florida.

In the second matchup of the day, SSU recorded 15 kills against The Citadel but fell 12-25, 7-25, and 11-25.

Lady Tiger Nabori Perez was strong offensively making five kills, while senior defensive specialist Jennifer Lowe trailed right behind her with four.

The Citadel's Jessica Maxwell registered a game high nine kills and Emily Dalton had two aces for the Lady Bulldogs.

Savannah State will play its next game at the Indiana State Tournament, where the ladies take on Indiana State, Western Illinois, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
