Jovonni Shuler and Preston Blackmon have received post-season basketball honors by being named to the 2011 All-Independent Men's Basketball Team.
Shuler led the Tigers in scoring with 543 points for an average of 18.1 points a game. He also led the team in field goals made (173), 3-pointers made (77), free throws made (130), minutes played per game (34.7) and steals (40). Shuler was second on the team in 3-point percentage (.350), assists (59) and blocks (11) and was third in rebounds (153).
Blackmon was second on the squad in points with 374 while averaging 12.5 points a game. He led SSU in free throw percentage (.833) and assists (123). He was also second on the team in field goals made (141), 3-pointers made (37), steals (39) and minutes played per game (33.1). Blackmon was third on the team in free throws made with 55.
Shuler, a 6-4 guard/forward, is a fifth-year senior from Lake Placid, Florida while Blackmon is a 6-foot sophomore point guard from Hopkins, South Carolina.
