SAVANNAH, Ga.- Nineteen former Savannah State student-athletes received college degrees during commencement exercises at Tiger Arena on May 8.
Women's basketball led the way with five followed by football and women's track who had three each and men's basketball, women's tennis, men's track and baseball who all had two apiece.
Receiving graduate degrees were LaTeisha Barnett (women's basketball), Jon Lattimore (football) and Tracey Modeste (women's tennis).
Barnett received her public administration degree, Lattimore received his urban studies degree and Modeste received her marine sciences degree.
Earning undergraduate degrees were
Victoria Burch (women's track/accounting), O'Bryan Clemons (men's track/computer information systems),
Bernard Coleman (football/track/management), DaLisha Crowder (women's track/management), Shmika Jones (women's basketball/behavior analysis),
Chris Linton (men's basketball/criminal justice), Rondrick Parker (men's track/computer information systems), Amber West (women's basketball/marketing), Joshua Marshall (football/criminal justice), Brandon Emerson (men's basketball/sociology),
Para Malden (women's tennis/mass communications),
Tristan Smith (baseball/mass communications), Kiana Smith (women's basketball/political science), CaLisha Crowder (women's track/biology), Shamice James (women's basketball/civil engineering technology) and
Robert Ramsdale (baseball/computer science technology).
Five student-athletes graduated with honors.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude for carrying at least a 3.40 grade point average was
Victoria Burch and Kiana Smith. Graduating Cum Laude for having at least a 3.00 grade point average were DaLisha Crowder, Joshua Marshall and
Robert Ramsdale.
