Tigers Set To Renew Rivalry With Rams

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Just two weeks after playing Fort Valley State in the Music City Classic, Savannah State will play another in-state rival at a neutral site. SSU will play Albany State in the inaugural Rumble in the Swamp Classic. The game will be played in Waycross, Georgia at Memorial Stadium with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.

It will be the 61st meeting between the schools.

The game is being sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Valdosta and Southeast Georgia.

Savannah State comes into the game coming off a loss while the Rams enter on a high note. SSU loss to Bethune-Cookman 42-7 in Daytona Beach, Florida while the Rams defeated Tuskegee 34-6 in Tuskegee, Alabama.

The last time SSU and Albany State (3-0) met was in 2004 and ASU walked away with a 37-17 victory in the Music City Classic held in Macon.

Julius Dixon is the interim head coach at Savannah State (0-3) while ASU is under the direction of head coach Mike White who is in his 10th season as the Golden Rams head coach.

The series dates back to 1932 and ASU leads the overall series 41-16-2.

The stadium is located at 715 Dewey Street in Waycross, GA 31501.
