Savannah, Ga. - Savannah State University's volleyball team defeated the Lady Tornados of Talladega, but fell to the Barons of Brewton Parker College during Friday's Tri-Match in Tiger Arena.
The Lady Tigers started the day with a 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19) victory against Talladega during their 2:00 p.m. match.
SSU veteran players
Keandra Lewis, and
Bianca Helton dominated with game highs of 17 kills each. Sophomore
Ashlee Butler led the team with 33 assists and newcomer
Kaneisha Hamilton had a team high of 14 digs.
Shalitha Swain of Talladega made 10 kills for the Tornados.
Maintaining the true Tiger spirit of high energy and motivation, the SSU volleyball team played diligently against the Lady Barons of Brewton Parker.
The Lady Tigers hustled hard, but were defeated by Lady Barons the 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, and 25-14).
Lewis led the team with 10 kills and nine digs, along with freshman
Bryana Gadis who made eight kills and nine digs for the Lady Tigers team. Butler had 24 assists and
Bianca Helton had two blocks.
Brewton Parker's Jessica Hill, and Jeune Hypolite had 10 kills a piece.
Brewton Parker College also defeated Talladega College 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, and 25-10) in game two of the tri-match.
