SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State volleyball team opened their 2009 season with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-16) win over Edward Waters in Willcox-Wiley Gym.
Shatice White had nine kills for SSU (1-0) while Chikia Jones added seven.
Shawannda McClain had 21 assists and
Danielle Richardson had seven digs.
Alexandria Brooks had eight kills for EWC.
The Lady Tigers fell to 1-1 after dropped three matches to Columbia by scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-16.
White had nine kills and seven digs in a losing effort. McClain had 15 assists and 13 digs while Keandra Lewis had 10 digs and Bianca Helton had four blocks.
Liz Richardson had 42 assists for Columbia (2-0).
Earlier in the day, Columbia defeated Edward Waters 3-0 (29-27, 25-11, 25-17).
Richardson and Ashton Brant each had 16 assists for Columbia while Emily Sox had 13 digs.
EWC (0-2) was led by Brooks who had 10 digs, seven assists and six kills.
