Joshua C. Jackson

Joshua C. Jackson was named Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Savannah State University on November 1, 2024, bringing more than a decade and a half of experience in collegiate athletics communications, broadcasting, digital media and game-day operations to "The Marsh."

In his role, Jackson directs the communications and media relations efforts for Savannah State Athletics, overseeing publicity, athletics communications, digital and social media, statistical operations, media coordination, website content and storytelling for the Tigers' athletic programs. He also oversees the department's statistical reporting operations, helping ensure accurate and timely submission of required information to the NCAA and other governing organizations.

Jackson works closely with Savannah State's coaches, student-athletes, administrators and external media to increase exposure for the University's athletic programs while maintaining and strengthening the Savannah State Athletics brand. His responsibilities include coordinating media coverage and interview requests, producing athletics publications and game materials, managing digital content, overseeing statistical operations at home events and promoting the accomplishments of Savannah State's student-athletes and coaches across multiple platforms.

Jackson arrived at Savannah State following six years as Sports Information Director at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida. During his tenure at Edward Waters, he played a significant role in the growth, modernization and rebranding of the Tigers' athletic department.

Among his contributions was assisting in the development and implementation of new athletics logos and identifying marks while helping establish a stronger and more consistent visual identity for EWU Athletics. He also expanded the department's digital footprint by creating and managing social media platforms, overseeing the athletics website and developing new streaming and broadcast opportunities.

Jackson was also involved in Edward Waters' historic transition from longtime membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to NCAA Division II and membership in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). His communications work helped document and promote the department during one of the most significant periods of growth and change in its history.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Jackson created the Edward Waters Sports Network, expanding the department's ability to showcase its student-athletes and programs through live broadcasts and digital content. He served as the play-by-play voice of EWU football and handled public address announcing duties for the Tigers' men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball programs.

His work at Edward Waters earned both conference and national recognition. Jackson was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year in 2020 and 2021, while the EWU Athletics Twitter account earned Top Five national recognition from the NAIA in 2019.

Jackson also brings an extensive broadcasting and game-day entertainment background to Savannah State.

Since 2010, he has served as the Public Address Announcer for the Jacksonville Sharks, beginning with the franchise's inaugural season. During his tenure, Jackson has been a multiple-time recipient of league honors for Best Public Address Announcer and Best Game Day Experience. He has also been part of four championship seasons with the organization in 2011, 2017, 2019 and 2023.

From 2014-18, Jackson served as the radio play-by-play voice of Florida A&M University football, calling games for his alma mater and adding another chapter to a broadcasting career that has spanned collegiate and professional sports.

His broadcasting experience also includes work with the Jacksonville Giants of the American Basketball Association, the Jacksonville 95ers of The Basketball League, and the men's and women's basketball programs at the University of North Florida and Jacksonville University.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Jackson is a 2010 graduate of Florida A&M University, where he earned a degree in Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism. His professional career has combined his backgrounds in journalism, broadcasting, athletics communications, branding and digital media with a commitment to promoting the accomplishments and telling the stories of student-athletes.
