Bernard Gaither

Bernard T. Gaither was named assistant coach track and field coach in the summer of 2022.

Gaither served as the head coach for the University of South Carolina Beaufort between 2016 and 2018.
During Gaithers time as head coach, he accumulated three Sun Conference titles and five Conference runner up awards.

Prior to serving as their head coach, Gaither served as the team's assistant coach for four years. Before entering collegiate athletics, Gaither served as head coach for New Hampstead and Grooves High School in Savannah.

Prior to traveling to USCB, Gaither also started successful football, track and cross country programs at New Hampstead High School. He was also named women’s & men’s coach of the year between 2017-18.

Gaither spent his early collegiate years at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he was a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship Team in 1996.

Later at Townson University, Gaither set the school record in the 500m DMR (indoor and outdoor) and was an IC4A Qualifier. Due to his success in his athletic career, Gaither is a USATF Level 2 certified in sprints, hurdles, relays and more.

Gaither is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

Gaither graduated from Townson University with a bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies and from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a master's in education.
