GARDENDALE, Ala.- Jayla Givens' two-run homerun in the top of the eighth led Savanah State to a 5-3 win over Miles as the Lady Tigers closed out the SIAC Crossover with a victory at Bill Noble Park.
With the score tied at 3-3,
Ariana Battle hit a single up the middle and after
Jayla Alexander popped up to the second baseman for the first out, Givens hit a 2-1 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run home run for the game winning runs.
The win improves Savannah State to 15-9 overall and 6-6 in the SIAC.
The 15 wins matches the 15 win total from the 2025 season.
Miles led 1-0 after one inning of play but a solo home run by Givens in the top of the second tied the game.
SSU went ahead 2-1 in the top of the third.
After
Ansley Hudson hit a double to left field,
Kaitlyn Williams struck out but reached base when the ball got away from the catcher and that allowed Hudson to score.
The Golden Bears added a score in the bottom of the third to tie the game and then went ahead 3-2 with a run in the fifth inning.
Williams led off the sixth with a single to centerfield and scored when Givens hit a single to centerfield to tie the contest.
