GARDENDALE, Ala.- Savannah State saw their record fall to 13-8 after a 4-3 loss to Lane on Wednesday afternoon in the SIAC Crossover at Bill Noble Park.
Trailing 1-0 as they entered the second inning, Savannah State tied the game as
Neveah Ford, who bunted her way on base, scored when
Kaitlyn Williams reached base on a fielding error.
After the Dragons went ahead 2-1 in the third, SSU responded by scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 3-2.
Carissa Ball and
Zorianna Ford hit back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second. With
Morgan Cole running forÂ
Zorianna Ford, a single up the middle by
Milani Dunning brought home Ball and a groundout by Williams allowed Cole to cross home plate.
Lane tied the game with a run in the fifth and scored the game winner in the sixth.
Savannah State had eight hits in the game, left eight runners on base and committed two errors. The Dragons finished the game with nine hits while leaving six runners on base and making two errors.
Neveah Ford had two hits and stole two bases, Williams had two RBI and Dunning stole a pair of bases.
Aaliyah Martin struck out five batters in the loss.
The Lady Tigers (4-5 SIAC) will play Kentucky State on Wednesday afternoon in the Crossover.
