ATLANTA, Ga.- Savannah State saw their 2024-25 basketball season come to an end, following their 64-43 loss to Miles in the quarterfinals of SIAC Basketball Championships on Wednesday at Morehouse.
Savannah State ends their season with a 12-15 overall record while going 7-12 in conference play.
Myasia Jones had a team-high 12 points for the Lady Tigers while
Sanai Chisholm added ten points.
SSU trailed 12-5 after the first quarter and the game stayed close until the Golden Bears finished the second quarter with six unanswered points to take a 26-13 advantage into halftime.
Savannah State found themselves down by 17 in the third quarter before a 7-0 spurt drew them within ten points with just under six minutes left in the quarter.
With time winding down, the Miles lead grew to 19 but SSU ended the third quarter with a jumper by Jones and started the fourth quarter with a pair of free throws from Jones followed by a 3-pointer by Chisholm and a layup by
Jaliyah Harper to whittle their deficit to 46-36 at the 8:15mark.
The Golden Bears put the game away with a 16-3 run late in the fourth quarter to advance to the conference semifinals.
Jazmin Thornton had seven points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals for Savannah State and Harper chipped in four points.
Jayden Boykin and
Raven Birt scored three points apiece while
Mya Byrd and
Ansley Hicks had two points each.
