SAVANNAH, Ga.- Aaliyah Martin pitched a perfect game to help Savannah State complete a double-header sweep of Clark Atlanta at the SSU Softball Field on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers won the first game 7-5 and took game two, 3-0.
Martin struck out seven and did not issue a walk as Savannah State won its third straight game and improved to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC.
Ambria Guye hit a two-run double for SSU in the fifth inning and
Caleigh Powell hit a home run over the left field fence in the sixth inning.
In the first game, CAU scored a run in the top of the first inning but the Lady Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the second and third innings to go ahead 2-1.
The Panthers scored twice in the fourth and fifth innings for a 5-2 advantage.
SSU sent five runners across home plate in the fifth with
Neveah Ford hitting a RBI single, J Alexander drawing a bases loaded walk and Guye hitting a two run double. Guye was able to score on an error by the catcher.
Guye had two RBI for Savannah State and
Ariadna Diaz-Jimenez had two hits.
Nia Fisher was the winning pitcher. Fisher struck out two in her seven innings on the mound.
SSU and Clark Atlanta will conclude their three game series on March 1 at 11 a.m.
