MOBILE, Ala.- Savannah State went 2-1 on the first day of the SIAC Roundup which was played March 21, 2024 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
The Lady Tigers started the day with a loss to Clark Atlanta but bounced back to finish the day with wins over Fort Valley State and LeMoyne-Owen.
In the 0-4 loss to Clark Atlanta,
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Padmasree Murugan lost their match 6-2 while one doubles matches was unfinished and the other was won by CAU by default.
Gabrielle Benn lost her singles match 3-6, 2-1 and
Amarlia Benn lost her match 4-6, 3-6. All other singles matches were either unfinished or won by default.
In the next match, SSU defeated Fort Valley State 4-2.
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Padmasree Murugan won the number one doubles match 6-2 and
Amarlia Benn and
Gabrielle Benn won their match 6-0.
Madeleine Anne Nolan won her singles match 6-1, 6-0;
Gabrielle Benn won her match 6-2, 6-1 and Amarlia Been won her match 6-0, 6-3.
Savannah State ended the day with a 4-2 victory over LeMoyne-Owen.
Amarlia Benn and
Gabrielle Benn won the number one doubles 6-2, and
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Padmasree Murugan won the number two doubles match 6-0.
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Padmasree Murugan won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 and
Gabrielle Benn won her singles match 7-5, 6-2.
The Lady Tigers (8-6, 8-4 SIAC) will play Tuskegee on March 22, 2024.
