SAVANNAH, Ga.-  The Savannah State women's tennis team won their home opener with a 7-0 victory over Edward Waters in a match played at the SSU Tennis Courts on February 17.
 
In the number one singles, 
Gabrielle Benn defeated Aalisha Alexis by scores of 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 while 
Madeleine Anne Nolan won her number two singles match against Giulia Peres with scores of 6-2, 6-0.
 
Amarlia Benn, 
Padmasree Murugan, 
Sunzahra Liburd-Banks and 
Chazmin Yokley all won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0.
 
The match of SSU's number one doubles team of Nolan and Muguran went unfinished but the Benn sisters won their match 6-1 and the tandem of Liburd-Banks and 
Jharia Webster won their match 6-0.
 
Savannah State (6-3) will travel to Georgia College on February 24 and Edward Waters on March 2, before returning home to face Georgetown (Ky) on March 11.
