SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State softball team will make a national television appearance when they take on the Rattlers of Florida A&M on April 7.
The first pitch is slated for 11 a.m. at the Lady Rattler Complex in Tallahassee, Florida.
Savannah State enters the contest with a 6-22 overall record while having a 1-7 record in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Freshman
Stacie Smith leads the SSU offense with a .451 batting average. The Metter, Georgia native has scored 20 times, has 37 hits, 10 RBI, two home runs, one triple and one double. Smith also leads the team in stolen bases, stealing 25 bases in 27 attempts.
Michelle Peyton bats .301 and leads the squad with 14 RBI and is tied for the team lead with three home runs with
Cortni Jones while
Jocelyn Lozano has a .255 batting average.
Sophomore
Tanisha Williams and senior
Faith Dickerson have won three games apiece on the mound. Williams has a 5.23 earned run average with 23 strikeouts while Dickerson has posted a 6.56 ERA and has struck out 36 batters.
Freshman
Amaiya Green has a .981 fielding percentage while senior
Kelsey Cyrus is right behind with a .979 fielding percentage.
